diff-checker.org
Terms of Service
Last updated: May 5, 2026
Agreement
These Terms of Service govern your use of diff-checker.org, including the browser diff checker, iframe embed, and public REST API. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The Service
diff-checker.org provides tools for comparing text, code, and text-based files. The browser tool and iframe embed run comparisons locally in the user's browser. The REST API processes submitted request bodies on our serverless endpoint and returns a diff response.
The service is provided for convenience and may change over time. Features, limits, URLs, API behavior, and availability may be changed, limited, suspended, or ended at any time.
Your Content
You keep any rights you have in the text, code, or files you compare. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to use and compare any content you enter, upload, embed, or send to the API.
When you use the REST API, you give us the limited permission needed to process the request body, generate the requested diff, return the response, operate the service, and protect it from abuse.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the service to:
- Break any law or violate another person's rights.
- Upload or transmit content you are not allowed to use.
- Send malware, exploit code, spam, or abusive automated traffic.
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, scan, or reverse engineer the service.
- Remove attribution from the iframe embed if attribution is shown by the widget.
- Misrepresent your relationship with diff-checker.org.
API and Embed Use
The public API and iframe embed are currently offered for free. We may apply rate limits, block abusive traffic, change response formats, require keys, or discontinue public access if needed to keep the service reliable.
You are responsible for your own implementation, security, and compliance when you embed the widget or call the API from your application.
No Professional Advice
diff-checker.org is a utility for spotting differences. It does not provide legal, security, compliance, financial, or professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing important changes yourself before relying on a diff result.
Intellectual Property
The diff-checker.org name, design, interface, documentation, and other site materials are owned by the site operator or its licensors. These terms do not grant you rights to copy the site branding or imply endorsement by diff-checker.org.
Disclaimer
The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that every diff result will be complete or correct for your use case.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, diff-checker.org and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or security incidents arising from your use of the service.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and hold harmless diff-checker.org and its operators from claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the updated terms.
