diff-checker.org
Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 5, 2026
Overview
diff-checker.org is designed so the main browser tool and iframe embed can compare text, code, and text-based files locally in your browser. For those browser-based comparisons, we do not intentionally receive, store, sell, or use your pasted text, code, or uploaded file contents.
This policy also covers the public REST API at /api/diff. API requests
work differently from the browser tool because your request body is sent to our
serverless endpoint so it can compute and return the requested diff.
Information You Provide
- Browser tool and iframe embed: Original and modified text, code, and file contents are processed by scripts running in your browser. They are not sent to diff-checker.org servers as part of the comparison feature.
- REST API: If you call
POST /api/diff, the original and modified strings in your request are transmitted to the API so the service can return the diff response. We do not intentionally save API request bodies after the response is generated. - No accounts: The site does not currently offer user accounts, paid subscriptions, comments, or profile pages.
Information Processed Automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and security providers may process routine technical information when you visit the site or call the API. This can include IP address, request URL, browser or user-agent information, timestamps, error information, and security or performance logs.
diff-checker.org does not currently use advertising cookies, analytics scripts, payment processors, or marketing trackers. The app also does not currently store your diff inputs in cookies, local storage, or a database.
How Information Is Used
- To provide the website, iframe embed, and REST API.
- To generate API responses when you choose to use the API.
- To maintain security, prevent abuse, debug errors, and keep the service reliable.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Service Providers
The site is hosted on Cloudflare infrastructure. Cloudflare may process technical request data as a hosting, CDN, security, logging, and serverless compute provider. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the service or others.
Retention
Browser-based comparison inputs are not intentionally received by diff-checker.org, so we do not retain them. API request bodies are processed transiently to generate a response and are not intentionally stored by the application. Routine technical logs may be retained by our infrastructure providers according to their systems and our configuration.
Your Choices
- Use the browser tool for comparisons you do not want transmitted to our API.
- Avoid placing sensitive secrets, credentials, or regulated data into the API.
- Use browser controls to clear cache or site data if needed.
- Contact us if you have a privacy request or question.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
